Community-led events are a core component of the Salisbury Centre’s regular offerings, reflecting our diverse community. They include one-off events, workshops, recurring groups, and regular classes, for example yoga, qi gong, meditations, chanting, dance, movement, drama, and crafts.
Here below we share how Community-Events differ from privately hired rooms and autonomously run events
Unlike private hire events in the Salisbury Centre’s spaces (for which the hirer might choose to charge participants a fee), community-led events are offered on a “by donation” basis.
This inclusive model ensures that community members from any background can take part in activities regardless of their ability to pay. This model should be explicitly mentioned in any promotional material for the event.
Community facilitators do not pay a fee for hiring a room at the Salisbury Centre. Instead, after all donations have been collected for an event (which may include cash, Eventbrite sales, PayPal, or through our website donation page) the total amount will be shared, 60% to the Facilitator and 40% to the Salisbury Centre
All community-led events will be promoted through the Salisbury Centre comms channels, including:
Community-led events are an integral part of the Salisbury Centre offering. Community facilitators are representing the centre and will be covered by the Centre’s public liability insurance.
As such, it is important that the Centre feels comfortable with the quality, safety, and integrity of both the facilitator and the type of event offered.
All potential community facilitators who would like to host community-led events should therefore fulfil the following criteria:
*** Note : The Salisbury Centre has a rich history and diverse community. The Centre therefore reserves the right to evaluate the suitability of each class/facilitator on a case-by-case basis
