Sunday 19 September
We have an opening for a 3 year residency at the Salisbury Centre. Residents of the Salisbury Centre are key members of the community and as such the new resident will be invited to be an active member of the community.
The room is on the second floor with a view of the garden and synagogue next door, with an ensuite sink and toilet, for a rent of £450/month including all bills (heating, WiFi, electricity and cleaning materials). The living room, bathroom and kitchen are shared with two other residents, Ben and Susannah (who are in a partnership) and a lovely resident cat called Rumi.
This residency would be suitable for someone who shares the Centre’s values. Our intention is to be inclusive of all spiritual traditions, and to create a place where those exploring their deepest nature can find and develop their own path, while also having opportunities to meet with others and be part of a vibrant, and supportive community. We are committed to working towards ecological sustainability, in the belief that personal development goes hand in hand with awareness of the needs of the planet. This is a developing, evolving community and the residents community is a work in progress so ideally the chosen candidate would be willing to be a part of this ongoing process.
Living at the Salisbury Centre means being part of a community and sharing responsibilities as well as the values and ethos of the place. We invite people to apply who wish to experience living in an environment that focuses on the body, mind and spiritual well-being. We strive to create a diverse and inclusive environment in the Centre. We gladly welcome applications from all gender identities, ethnic backgrounds, ages (over 21), class backgrounds and sexual orientation. We regret that the resident’s area is not wheelchair accessible at the moment due to a staircase. Applicants should be willing to be involved in a minimum of 3 hours of volunteering a week, this will involve things like caretaking for the building and participating in meetings with staff and trustees.
Please send your cover letter no longer than 2 pages to email@example.com explaining:
– Why you would like to live at the Salisbury Centre & your experience of community life
– How you see yourself being an active member of the community & what you’d like to contribute
– What you feel you would gain from living in such a place
– What your current occupation / source of income is
– What kind of availability & interest you would have to be involved in the Centre’s activities
Please note, this residency is for up to 3 years, and we are looking for someone who wants to commit to a minimum of 1 year, to allow the time to meaningfully integrate with the Centre’s community.
Applications are open until Thursday 1st July and interviews will be held on Thursday 8th (for a moving in date ASAP).
We are thrilled to have received funding from the University of Edinburgh’s Local Community Grants Scheme for a collaborative project…
