Opportunities to get more involved with The Salisbury Centre!

19 Feb 21

As we move through February, spring energy is starting to stir and there is a sense that what was frozen – in both nature and culture – is thawing, and the promise of flow and fresh possibilities are beginning to emerge!

We are hence excited to open up 3 opportunities to get more involved with our beautiful Centre. These include:

  • Recruiting new trustees
  • Call out for a building sub-committee volunteers
  • Invitation to help shape the feel and aesthetic of the Centre

You will be joining a great community of volunteers, staff residents and current trustees!

Find more information about each role below.

Recruiting for New Trustees!

The Salisbury Centre is a beautiful listed community building and garden, open to all who are seeking to grow and develop spiritually, psychologically and creatively. As we approach our 50th anniversary, could you help lead us into the future?

If you feel aligned with our vision and purpose, could you be part of leading and setting our strategic direction for our organisation? We particularly welcome people from a diverse range of backgrounds, including those currently under-represented on our board.

We need people who can commit the time, for at least 2 years (following initial trial period), to attend and prepare for meetings, support the staff team, contribute constructively and creatively to discussion (offering respectful challenge where appropriate), and invest in the future of the organisation as we approach our 50th anniversary.

Skills required:

  • Creativity and vision
  • Ability to plan ahead and think strategically
  • Independence of thought and willingness to speak up
  • Diplomacy and respect for confidentiality and boundaries
  • Reliability, trustworthiness and honesty
  • Allignment with our ethos

We estimate that this will take at least 15 hours per month made up of quarterly full board meetings (usually Monday mornings), occasional development days, stand-alone meetings, optional sub-committees, and reading through paperwork in advance to prepare.

In return, we can offer an induction, development opportunities, and a warm welcome into our supportive community.

To express interest, ask questions, or for an informal chat, please contact lorraine@salisburycentre.org with a couple of sentences about yourself and why you’re interested in the role.

Invitation to help us shape the feel of the centre

(This post is suitable for someone with previous involvement in the Centre such as volunteers, therapists, facilitators, room hirers or members of the community with a record of involvement with the centre)

Beautiful Salisbury Centre is a small group within the Salisbury Centre that exists to shape our approach to aesthetic and ecological considerations of our community building.

This is an invitation for new members to join the group and participate in a supportive process of choosing soft furnishings and brightening touches for the Salisbury Centre as we look to re-opening after our building works and lockdown restrictions.
We are seeking people who have close connections with the Salisbury Centre – as facilitator, volunteer or regular user of the centre – to get involved in making decisions about the interior appearance of the centre; renewing some of the furniture and looking at what we are going to be putting on the walls.

This is an opportunity to be involved in a creative process. We will be looking at how we can create a calm, uplifting energy in the centre which can benefit everyone, as well as honouring our eco friendly principles.

We would love to welcome one or more, enthusiastic new members who would enjoy working together as a small team and who have some time to contribute: the group meets quarterly, with additional discussion between meetings and by email as needed.

If you would like to offer your support and input, please get in touch to lorraine@salisburycentre.org, with a short message about why you feel called and what you might have to contribute.
