Upcycling Cafe: Repair Series

Extend the life of your furniture through easy and practical mending and upcycling techniques.

A 4-session programme with Rose Hall ‘Slow Agent’ as part of the Salisbury Centre’s Living Lighter Project. The sessions are designed as a full series so registration is for all 4 weeks.

  • Thursday 10th, 17th, 24th September, 1st October, 3-6pm

We invite you to learn to extend the life of your furniture through easy and practical mending and upcycling techniques. Reduce the carbon footprint of purchasing new pieces!

In the first week please bring a picture frame or two (available at very low cost from charity shops or from your own collection.)

For the subsequent weeks, please bring a small, easily portable piece of furniture (which you can store at the Salisbury Centre). Ideas could be a chair, stool, small coffee table, bedside cabinet, small book case or small chest of drawers. If you don’t have anything to work on let us know and we will provide something!

You will learn and practice some simple repair techniques, using glue and filler, coloured wax, sanding, screwing, nailing, using brackets and tools. You will work on finishing techniques with skills including painting, distressing, flat finish, taping, dry brushing, graduating colour, decoupage and antiquing.

The course is free but limited to 8 places so be sure to register on Eventbrite! The course will be held outdoors in the Salisbury Centre garden, with a marquee in case of bad weather.
