“Thank You for the Rain” Film Screening and Audience Discussion

An evening of film and audience discussion, exploring climate justice issues in the lead up to the UN Climate Conference in Glasgow!

About this Event

The Salisbury Centre is offering this free film and audience discussion event in partnership with Take One Action Film Festivals and the What the COP? film initiative, to explore key climate justice issues and find collective routes to action in November – and beyond.

‘Thank You for the Rain’ is a moving portrait of resilience on the frontlines of climate change.

From devastating droughts to flash floods, Kenyan farmer Kisilu Musya has been documenting the effects of extreme weather on his farm, his family and his community for over five years. Determined to stop climate change in its tracks, he organises local farmer groups to spread awareness of the dangers of deforestation and monoculture – and ends up taking his message all the way to the UN Climate summit. But will anyone listen? Faced with international leaders’ inertia and arrogance, Kisilu strengthens his resolve to protect the planet and the soil which every farmer – and all of us – depend on.

Combining stunning cinematography with hand-held, first-person accounts, this vividly textured documentary echoes the strength of spirit of its remarkable protagonist.
