The Space of Nature – Space to move…

Somatic Movement / Responsive Dance workshops

Four 4hrs sessions of Somatic Movement / Responsive Dance on Embodiment and Ecological Integration.

Somatic Movement offers an experiential investigation of body systems and developmental movements. Responsive-dance opens a creative process in which we can discover our own capability for movement and resilience in connection to ourselves, other humans, and the environment. Experience, knowledge, and the process of growth are all interconnected in an integrative approach to unfold our movement and for development to exist.

This course offers a study of the evolutionary origin of movement by exploring the movement patterns we developed since the early stages of our lives in order to relate and act into the world. During these sessions we will focus on integrating them with the way we move in the present. This will facilitate a process of finding knowledge and support for our movement qualities, postures and shapes in space.

Each session will be dedicated to a specific aspect of how we move and the origins of our movements:

Proposed themes of the four workshops:
Friday 24th June 16.30-20.30 – Embryological movement and breath.
Friday 1st July 16.30- 20.30 – Animal relationship to movement patterns and reflexes.
Friday 8th July 16.30-20.30 – Movement patterns and Body Systems
Saturday 9th July 14:30- 18.30 – Embodiment, social contexts and ecological integration.
