***Event part of the Salisbury Centre 50th Anniversary Celebration Celebration week June 19-25 (read more below) ***

—————-

A special contribution for the Salisbury Centre 50th Anniversary celebration week from Vera Bohlen & David Harrison from the Findhorn Community.

An evening of songs of Healing, Peace & Celebration  taught by ear from a variety of traditions and styles.

Date: Tuesday 20th June

Time: 19:00 – 21:00

About the Event

Having previously considered themselves ‘unmusical’, both Vera and David discovered the joy of being ‘part of the music’ while singing harmonies as part of Taize sessions in the Nature Sanctuary in the  Findhorn Ecovillage Community, where they both live.

Taize singing (sung prayers from the Christian community in France of the same name), was brought to the Findhorn Community by Barbara Swetina, and has helped establish singing as both a spiritual practice and a community building tool within the Community.

They continue to lead a variety of singing in their Community, and with all songs taught by ear, enjoy bringing others who have also maybe previously considered themselves ‘unmusical’, into the music.

On the evening, they will be sharing simple rounds, and beautiful 4-part harmonies from a variety of traditions. No previous experience is required, and all songs will be taught by ear.

About the Facilitators (David & Vera)

David

As a balance and complement to his Social and Community work, David has loved leading a variety of Community Choirs, singing camps and workshops, as well as sessions of sacred song – recognising first-hand the power of communal singing to bring people together, developing instant intimacy and deep listening, releasing tensions from the day, and offering  connection to Spirit.

Vera

Vera has lived in Findhorn since 1995. She works as a ceramicist in her studio Claysongs Ceramics at Findhorn. Singing was a major source of joy (and growth).  Shy to start with  she participated in singing wherever possible and led Taize singing for many years. She developed a particular passion for Georgian singing and is co-leading a Georgian singing group at Findhorn. With David she has been leading singing events for more than 10 years, teaching ‘by ear’ rather than from dots and making sure that the joy of singing is always at the centre. They love sharing songs from different spiritual traditions with the aim to share togetherness and to touch Spirit.
