Event Series Event Series: Polyphonic Georgian Singing Group!

Polyphonic Georgian Singing Group!

After a long break due to Covid, this workshop marks the re-start of our open monthly Georgian singing gorup.

We are a group of Edinburgh singers who sing the wonderful traditional harmony songs from the Republic of Georgia. The group is open to everyone, with no particular musical background necessary except for a willingness to explore singing harmonies with others. All songs are taught by ear.

The group is led usually by two facilitators from a small pool of people who have been learning Georgian songs within two Edinburgh based groups who love to sing Georgian songs. The facilitators have been inspired by David Tugwell as well as the expert teacher of Georgian singing Frank Kane. The group aspires to follow Frank Kane’s approach of focussing on vibration in the body as the path to finding the authentic voice within ourselves and to connecting with other singers.
