As Covid Regulation ease, the Fireside Prayers Circles @ the Salisbury Centre are back from Monday 12th April (18:30- 20:30) !! (Forthnightly)
Come and gather around the flames of the central fire in the Salisbury Centre sanctuary garden!
These Fireside Medicine sessions aim to offer a space for all, new and old community members, friends, elders and young people, to gather around the Sacred Fire to explore and reclaim the role of Ritual, Ceremony & Prayer in our life to:
– Nurture our Soul, Mind & Body through sitting in a circle around a central Fire
– Build & strengthen community in a safe space to simply BE and pray together
– Share meaningful and inspiring music, songs, poems, quotes, sacred texts, writing, life-stories, dances… Anything can be your prayer!
– Witness and be witnessed in our sharing, to build solidarity and heart-connection (and enjoy! )
– Reignite the ancient ways of sharing a ritual space, as well as share cross-cultural indigenous wisdom
– Connect to and acknowledge the mystical side of life, THAT which is ungraspable to the mind and which can enable us to re-connect to the flow and Magic of life.
It is an honour to be offering these prayers circles on a recurrent base, in the beautiful sanctuary of the Salisbury Centre garden (a community centre for spirituality, creativity and peace)
THE NATURE AND SETTING OF THESE SESSIONS COMPLIES WITH CURRENT COVID REGULATIONS
In these sessions the sacred Fire will be the central focus of our gathering. As “new flames of an ancient fire’, we can all re-learn how to care for a shared flame, as well as how fire as a metaphor can help us understand how to find balance in this life as individual and as a community.
The Fire is a teacher in itself as well as a mysterious ancient portal where, with focussed intention, we can send prayer and receive all the time-less prayers that our ancestors have prayed, sang, danced in that fire before us.
We aim to start promptly and the door will be locked from 18:40 so try to be there by 18:20 – future dates or any changes will be communicated on here
Location @ The Salisbury Centre Garden (2 Salisbury Rd, Edinburgh EH16 5AB)
SUGGESTED DONATION: £ 8- 10
(this will go towards the firewood costs, to support the Salisbury Centre in these difficult times, and the facilitator)
If money is a barrier, please get in touch and we can discuss alternative arrangement as there is scope to help on the night as a part-exchange

WHAT TO EXPECT AND WHAT IS WELCOME
This will be a safely held Ritual space.
As to ensure the safety and well-being of all participants, you will be asked to respect a loose format and some “guidelines” for the evening, which will be explained on the night.
Differently from any other casual or creative circle of friends around a bonfire, we will focus on re-learning to PRAY together, and we will open and close a ritual space together (so attending the whole session is strongly encouraged)
No previous experience needed except a willingness to respect each other
Bring your open heart, musical instruments (if you have songs/prayers to share or if you can play along), songs, poems, writings, words, tears, laughter, joy, grief.
All is welcome.
There’s no need to share anything if you do not want to. You are welcome to come and silently bathe in the reflection of the flames, the shared songs and the warmth of the central fire.
The Salisbury Centre garden has recently installed a disable toilet and an accessible disable ramp. Accompanied children are welcome (Please confirm this in your booking email)
People from all walks of life are welcome attend as in diversity we thrive. This includes every ethnicity, social background, religion, gender, age or disability.
