More information about the weekend workshop BUTOH – SPACE AWARENESS

In the space of the mind
Every move
Paints a fleeting image

Our bodies exist in the external, physical space, filled with the movement of matter. Our minds are the “inner” space, where mental movement (visions, thoughts, etc.) manifests.
Life is a ceaseless dance, revealing itself in external and internal forms, in the boundless space.
The awareness of multidimensional space and various aspects of existence opens us to the experience of the unconditioned space of the mind. In this "expanded perspective&, the body liberates itself even more deeply. In this experience, a dance is born that is not a dance.

BUTOH
Japanese “modern” dance was created in the 1950s as a result of a search for new forms of expression. Its creators, Tatsumi Hijikata and Kazuo Ohno, negated both their tradition (Kabuki,Bunraku, Nō) and “opposed” mass culture of the West.

In Butoh dance the body becomes a text, a record of human experience discovered through movement. Butoh creates space for direct and total self-expression.
