Celebrate Beltane in the Salisbury Centre garden, with one of our contemplative or movement-based workshops.
Beltane is the Celtic festival that marks the start of summer. At Beltane we celebrate the renewal of life around us. From the boisterous dawn chorus of courting and nesting birds to green leaves and blossoms springing open on the trees around us.
Aligned with the current Government Covid-19 regulations, we have invited some experienced teachers from the Salisbury Centre community to lead contemplative and movement-based workshops in the garden. There are limited spaces available, so it is important to book your slot!
We ask you to please read our Safe Access guidelines for attendees if you are coming to the centre in person:
There are several sessions to choose from, and we hope one of these will speak to your wishes for Beltane this year.
We are unable to provide tea at the moment, so please bring along your own flask of tea and a snack if you would like 🙂
11am – 12pm: Zhineng Qigong with Chris Watkins (All ages welcome!)
“LET THE SAP FLOW”
Spring is here! Now is the time to assist the energy of the Universe to flow into and around our bodies.
Join Chris in this sixty minute Zhineng Qigong session to strengthen and support our intrinsic healing systems whilst releasing stress and anxiety.
This gentle, rhythmic form of Qigong combines breath, intention and movement to increase vitality, build stamina and enhance our immune systems.
Ideal for all ages and for beginners as well as those with previous experience.
Wear loose clothes and bring water to drink.
2-3pm: Circle Dancing with Kate Daly (All ages welcome!)
Join Kate to dance-in the summer! Circle Dancing is a mixture of traditional and new dances to music from around the world. Kate will teach each dance, so you don’t need to have previous experience. We look forward to dancing with you!
Note: If the weather is bad and we have to move this session online, all the dances are suitable to dance in your kitchen/bedroom, or any small space you have available!
19:00- 20:30pm: Moving with the Fire, with Francesco Benvenuti (aged 12+)
Welcome to this community contemplative and celebratory space around the Salisbury Centre sacred fire. An opportunity to sit together and focus our intention for this Beltane, sharing prayers, dreams, poems and offerings as a way to welcome in the expansion of the oncoming summer
As part of the evening Francesco, the space holder for the evening, will also offer a simple (non compulsory) fire movement meditation as a way to truly focus on our hopes and dreams for the next few months, and to fully embody them in front of the sacre Beltane fire.
Bring poems, prayers, songs, offerings and anything you might want to burn away into the flames of renewal and transmutation 🙂
We look forward to sharing a part of this day with you, and may we each enter the summer with inspiration and joy in our hearts!
This event is part of the Salisbury Centre community programme and is offered free of charge as we want to make sure it is accessible to anyone. Any donations towards the Salisbury Centre are welcomed, as the Centre’s ability to generate income to meet its running costs has been challenged by the pandemic. There will be donation bowls on the day and you can also donate online on our donations page using the reference Samhain: https://www.salisburycentre.org/donate/ Many thanks for your contributions in advance.
Of course there is the challenge of Scottish weather, so please COME DRESSED FOR THAT! If the weather forecast is especially bad we will also consider moving some sessions online. If we do need to move online we will email you on Saturday 1st to let you know!
