We started ‘Being Elder Being Older’ to have a place where we could be open about how we were finding the weird business of being older. That strange feeling of being ever young inside and noticing the creaks and groans of the body, and reflecting on our place in society and family as we get older. Are we seen as ‘elders’ or are we merely ‘old’? How do we see ourselves?
We are a group, of no more than 8 people, meeting weekly on Thursday 10:30–12:30 (on Zoom and sometimes in-person at the Salisbury Centre) to consider different themes each week.
The topics range from bucket lists to wills and advanced directives; from spiritual practice to how we present ourselves to the outside world. In other words, from the frivolous to the serious.
