The Salisbury Centre is looking for a dynamic individual to manage the activities and development of the Centre.

 

The Salisbury Centre aims to offer a place of welcome, safety, warmth and community for all those who are seeking to grow and develop spiritually, psychologically and creatively in the company of like-minded others.

Our intention is to be inclusive of all spiritual traditions, and to create a place where those exploring their deepest nature can find and develop their own path, while also having opportunities to meet with others and be part of a vibrant, and supportive community.

The Salisbury Centre aims to offer a holistic and dynamic program of activities such as courses, workshops, lectures, meditations and one-to-one therapeutic work. Our intention is to provide an open, welcoming and accessible space to explore spiritual, psychological, and creative dimensions of being.

The Salisbury Centre is looking for a new Centre Manager who will be able to manage and develop the Centre in the lead up to celebrating the 50th anniversary (in 2023) of a vibrant venue dear in the hearts of a wide and diverse community. We expect the initial work to be focused on finalising policies, finishing a significant update to our office systems, as well as working with the trustees on a major building upgrade.

We are fully committed to creating opportunities for access and participation for members of diverse communities. We are in the process of upgrading our premises and welcome applications from differently abled people. We are not currently fully accessible and some parts of the Centre will remain only accessible by flights of steps.

Starting date: as soon as possible
Working hours: 30hrs/week
Salary: based on £30,000, pro rata temporis £25,715
Contract duration: 3 years with a 6 months’ probation

 

Person Specification

Essential Experience:

  • Demonstrable ability to work within the values and ethos of a spiritual centre or a holistic practices organisation 
  • A developed spiritual practice and personal empathy with the offering The Salisbury Centre provides
  • Demonstrable experience of working strategically in a third sector organisation
  • Business planning, budgeting and monitoring for income generation and long term sustainability
  • Developing and promoting programmes of courses and events
  • Financial management – over £100,000 per annum turnover
  • Fundraising: significant grant applications to public and private bodies; organising fundraising events
  • Managing a team of staff and volunteers to run an organisation
  • Managing long term staff and those brought in for project work
  • Supervising several projects at the same time (Living Lighter project, Building upgrades, 50th anniversary etc.)
  • Organising and managing a volunteering programme
  • Implementation and delivery of a communications strategy
  • Building relationships with partners to bring in new activities and sources of income
  • Using social media for promotion and publicity 
  • Reporting at board level, facilitating decision making and discussions to determine future direction 
  • Consultation with a wide and diverse community
  • Educated to degree level
