POSITIVE PSYCHOLOGY
with Malene Goth
02 October 2010 (01:00pm-03:30pm)
Cost: Suggested donation of £10

Positive Psychology is a recent branch of Psychology. It focuses on how to enhance emotional wellbeing and a positive mental health.
Positive Psychology challenges the traditional psychological theories as it does not diagnose negative mental symptoms, which has been the main interest of psychology. It seeks to identify how to apply our personal strengths in life’s situations, which help us to become balanced and optimistic. Positive Psychology also teaches us to analyse our sometimes irrational negative thoughts and how to change pessimism into optimism.
This workshop provides you with simple techniques to become conscious of any blocks you could have in reaching goals in the area of work, personal relationships or personal development.
Malene Goth, MSSc in Psychology have experience as a Counsellor and Coach in Positive Psychology. Malene has been counselling individuals to enhance their joy of life as well as presenting the theory and techniques of Positive Psychology in magazines and at workshops.

NEW EYES FOR SEEING
A Collective Inquiry into ‘Intimacy’ Through Goethean Science
with Roland Playle
10 October 2010 (10:00am-05:00pm)

Goethean Science is a process of collective inquiry that guides participants into fusing intuitive, somatic and felt sense perceptions of the world with the rational thinking mind. Named after the German poet and philosopher Goethe, this process brings about a mode of perceiving that is more comprehensive and integrative than our usual way of seeing the world. It is a fusion of art and science, of head, heart and body, offering a paradigm shift that creates space for self-reflection and awareness both at the individual and collective levels.
A Goethean inquiry into ‘intimacy’ offers insight into the way that we engage with those close to us. It may serve as a valuable process of individuation, cultivating deeper comprehension of our own place and needs in relation to others and the larger world around us.
Participants are asked to bring a contribution to a shared lunch.

Roland’s work with Goethean Science has been inspired by working in conflict regions around the world and his time studying Holistic Science at the Schumacher College. He is working to harnesses the power of intuition and imagination to bring about clarity and insight into our daily engagements and participation with the world.
